The Stiff Salver, hosted by The Players Golf Club, is an open competition for elite Amateurs and Professionals to come and take their chance on the 7,716yrd Championship Course (one of the longest courses in Europe)
I shot a gross 73 (one over par) to take the title, but just missed the chance to break the course record which is held by John Morgan (Sky Golf Pundit) who holds it with his level par 72.
I was 3 under par with 5 to play, but got caught out on the par 5 (15th) when I found the water to make a double bogey, another bogey on the 17th saw the course record remain in place but my 73 was still good enough to win by 3 shots!
Over 104 players took part in this years tournament and its such a stern test of golf that only 6 players in the field managed to keep their scores in the 70`s
I’m very proud to have won this event and get my name up on their honours board – also gave me a good confidence boost to play such a tough course and come out the Champion for 2015
