Missing out at EuroPro Q school, sat with Tony Jacklin watching the Open, a couple of pay cheques and even a hug from Charley Hull, my first year as a professional golfer certainly had its ups and downs.
It was a disappointing blow to not get through the first stage of EuroPro Q school at the start of the year, but with so many mini-tours to play on there are still plenty of opportunities to gain valuable experience for the years ahead.
I signed up to play on the Jamega Tour which is a great tour, very professionally run and based in the South of England so can keep costs down a bit.
I really enjoyed playing on the tour and got to meet some great guys who have been playing as pros for years so took all the advise in I could.
Many have even played on the European Tour and Challenge Tour and just love to play the game and even though they no longer compete now at the highest level they still love the buzz of tournament golf.
Without doubt though the highlight of my first year was the British Par 3 Championships, we had seen the event advertised on Twitter and decided to give qualifying a go.
You can read the reports here on qualifying and the actual final itself
One of the things I will remember the most though is, after British Par 3 qualifying I sat down in the clubhouse with my dad to watch the final days play at the Open.

A guy came over and sat with us and asked how we had got on, and how was the Open going, when I Iooked up to answer him, I realised it was Tony Jacklin major winner and Ryder cup legend what a great guy sat with us for hours just chatting away
The BP3 final itself was an amazing couple of days, seeing the start sheet with your name by the side of Paul Lawrie, Barry Lane, Tony Jacklin and many other stars of golf was so strange to see, I even managed a few pics and a quick hug from Charley Hull

I did manage to receive a couple of pay cheques from the BP3, not enough to be buying any fancy car yet, but nice to be paid for something you love doing : )
I also managed to pick up a win at the Players Golf Club when I took first place in the very prestigious Stiff Salver held for Elite amateurs and Pro golfers

I am already in training at the Gym and Golf Club preparing for the 2016 season – I have learned some valuable lessons in 2015 and with this experience behind me I hope to get back to making the scores I have been used to shooting and seeing how far I can go
Happy New Year to all my friends and family and thank you all so much for your support during the year and hopefully the years ahead
Best Wishes
Matt Mumford
