With the tournament at Telford being cancelled The Players Club became my final comp of the year.
And after winning the Stiff Salver there just two weeks earlier, I was feeling pretty positive about the week and a good showing.
A bit of a common theme for my first year and yet again the weather gets a write up!! this time conditions were so bad that just 3 holes into my first round we were called off the course and all back in the clubhouse.
After about an hour delay we were sent back out as the rain had eased off a bit, but as soon as we reached our balls down it came again and play was now cancelled for the day. This now meant all back the next day for 36 hole shootout.
First round and it was a bit of a mixed bag front nine, two birdies, one bogey a double plus five pars meant I was out in 37 and one over par for the front nine
Back nine started great when I hit my approach shot to the par 3 10th to a couple of feet for a tap in birdie which brought me back to level par and things were looking very good.
I remained at level until par until the 15th where I found some trouble which resulted in a double bogey another bogey followed at the 18th and now I was +3 for 18 holes 75
Quick lunch and back out for my second round, I struggled all afternoon and couldn’t get going again and the round didn’t go so well at all.
I lost a couple of balls from some bad tee shots and despite still making 3 birdies with the lost balls and penalty shots ended up shooting +8 for an 80 this went with my first round 75 for +11 for the day.
This is my last comp of the year so keep a look out for my end of season review which will follow shortly, it has had a few ups and downs
