My final event for the 2019 season has finished and after my long drive back from Aberdeen its time for my round up of the year.
Firstly how did Aberdeen go on the EuroPro Tour – well it was definitely a mixed bag and a tournament of two halves
Day 1
Out in the afternoon and a great start with a birdie on my very first hole, a double bogey on 13 and out in 37 (+1) over par
Onto the back nine and not a good start at all as I made a succession of bogeys before finally getting another birdie on the 8th (my 17th) and my day was finished at 77 (+5)
Day 2
This was to be my final competitive round of the year so no holding back – and what a start as I made birdies on the 2nd,7th and the 8th to be -3 for the front nine
Onto the back and more to come as I made further birdies on the 11th and 12th to get to -5 before my only bogey of the day on the 17th to finish the day with a -4 68
Tournament total 77 + 68 (+1) for the tournament
So 2019 season is over but how did I do overall
Thompson Tour
I started way back in January again this year starting my season on the Thompson Tour.
I played in 4 events, played really good golf which qualified me to play in the Tour Champs held in April.
After rounds of +4 and -1 I managed a very respectable 6th place and a very good start to the year
EuroPro Q school
Then the main event, EuroPro Q school as I have always mentioned before a very nervy week for me as a failure here means you do not get to play on the EuroPro Tour so always a big week
No problem for me here though and two very solid rounds to finish level par got me through to the Q school finals the following week.
Another great week at the finals and with rounds of 72+73+71 for a tournament total of -1 and I had secured a cat 6 card giving me a guaranteed entry to all EuroPro events for 2019
A little downtime before the main season got going and was great to attend my sponsors Rickety Bridge / Kingsland Drinks race day at Newbury and meet back up with Duncan who I hadn’t seen for a little while so great to catch up.
Another highlight to the start of year, after finishing 2018 on the Jamega Tour with a Hole in One – can’t believe I went onto repeat this with another Hole in One on first event of the Jamega Tour. 5 in total now!!
With my EuroPro starting in Hertfordshire and finishing in Scotland, I had traveled many miles around the country, I have managed to finish high enough in the Order of Merit to automatically qualify for the final stages of Q-School in 2020.
