Open Qualifying – Remedy Oak
After just missing qualifying last year to the finals by one shot I couldn’t wait to get back and play Remedy Oak this year.
Probably my best golf of the season so far saw me to the turn in one under par (-1)
Unfortunately, on the 10th tee though a loose tee shot right meant a lost ball and I ended up making a triple bogey.
Although pretty fed up after my great front nine I hung in to birdie the very next hole and got myself back to +1 for the round
Its a tough course with not many birdie opportunities and I played steady although two more dropped shots left me +3 standing on the 18th.
I knew I was too many shots away from qualifying and only an eagle two would have a chance (although very slim), so I decided to go for a big iron shot off the tee but I pulled it into the rough, again a lost ball and ended with a double.
+5 for my round and all 5 shots gone in those two holes
I can take some positives out of the round, apart from two poor swings which effectively cost me five shots, I played solid for the other 16 holes and it was the best golf I have played so far this year.
