What a day and finally a break through
I travelled to Nailcote Hall to try and qualify for the British Par 3 Championships
It’s a tough ask as only four players go through from the 60 Professionals playing
The final is a massive event with £100,000 in prize money up for grabs as well as a host of celeb pro-am days all televised on Sky Sports – current holder is Eddie Pepperell
You play 18 holes – twice around the 9 hole course and after my first nine I was level par.
I saw the leader board and -2 was winning so knew I needed a low one to try and qualify
Back nine was so steady two birdies and 7 pars and I had finished two under par – this now meant I was tied for the lead and my chance of qualifying was now so close
I then had the agonising wait around to see if anyone beat me to top spot – as we sat there two scores come in on -3 which moved me back to third place but this was still good enough to qualify.
Then the relief as the last group holed out and had not gone any lower – that was it I was though to the finals in August
Its going to be such a great event I’m really looking forward to playing in it, also added bonus I received my first pay cheque as a professional golfer
