Open Qualifying Remedy Oak (+5 77)
This years open qualifying was a rather wet one.
With rain falling heavily through the night and best part of the morning it was going to be a tough day.
Greenkeepers were everywhere on tee boxes and greens inbetween groups brushing heavy amounts of water off to try and keep play going ahead.
Unfortunately my tee time fell at the peak time of the rain and I played the best part of 10 holes in heavy rain and that’s where I dropped my shots.
Bogeys at the first second and third followed by a double at the par 5 fifth meant I was +5 through 5 and my hopes of qualifying all but over.
Dropping another at 7 put me at 6 over par but a well hit tee shot on 8 to drive the Green led to my first birdie and I eventually reached the turn at +5.
A handful of pars followed through until the 16th where I made another birdie to get back to +4. A three putt bogey on 18 finished my day off with a 77 +5 and I was bitterly disappointed.
Had I of teed off in the afternoon who knows how much better my score could of been but that’s the way golf is and I was already looking forward to my next event on the EuroPro tour.
