End the season in style
What a finish to the 2018 season
This season has been one of best since turning pro with 8 top 10 finishes including two runners up spots, but unfortunately that first pro victory is still just eluding me.
Going into the last event of the year, I have been playing well so was full of confidence, heading to The Players Club near Bristol.
Day 1
Second group out so a very early start. A couple of steady pars before bogeys on the 3rd, 6th and 7th holes, a quick birdie back on the 9th and I reached the turn to 38 (+2)
Back nine and not very consistent golf at all as I made 3 bogeys in 6 holes and also one double.
I didn’t let this bother me though and back to back birdies on the 16th & 17th and day one was done in 77 (+5)
Day 2
Needing a very low round to earn a cheque, I set off thinking about maybe shooting -5, -6 would be good enough, but if not let’s get it round low to finish the season in style.
A steady par on the first before the shot of my pro career so far as I aced the par 3 second for my first HOLE IN ONE as a professional!
I have now made 4 in total you can read about them at hole in one club
Normally, after a hole in one, your game goes wrong as that is all you’re thinking about; but just two holes later on the very next par 3 it looked like I had made another one, only for it to just finish on the edge of the hole for a tap in birdie.
A bogey on 8 before a run of birdies on 9,10 and 11 and I was now -5 for the day.
I made bogey on 14 and 16 before another birdie two! on a par 3 17th and I had finished the day with a 68 (-4) under par and my tournament total was 77 + 68 (+1)
A great way to finish the year with a (-4) 68 and even better a Hole In One!
Shortly I will be doing my full end of season write up and with 8 top ten finishes and a Hole In One hopefully should be a good read.
Thank you for all your support during the year
Matt
