Round 1
I had been playing really well heading into this tournament, unfortunatelt I got off to the worst possible start I could have of imagined when I bogied the easy par 5 first, followed with a lost tee shot on the third hole resulting in me having to run back to the tee for a reload, I ended up making a quadruple bogey 9.
Already at +5 through 3 holes I knew the round was already against me and after dropping a couple more shot around the green I got to the turn at +9.
However I am not one to give up and I battled hard on the back 9 to rescue what could of been an embarrassingly bad round by shooting -2 on the back 9 and shooting a round of 80 +7.
Round 2
A bad first day means an early start on the second day and with rain pouring down and set to stay my hopes weren’t exactly running high.
A much better start than the day before saw me birdie the first hole however a missed green on the second resulted in giving my birdie straight back.
Three solid pars later followed by another missed green and a bogey at the 6th.
Some unfortunate luck on the par 5 8th saw me nearly reach the green in two but leaving myself in a tight spot. A fumbled chip left me with a treacherous downhill putt which I ran off the green and three putts after that saw me make a double bogey 7 in a heartbeat.
In typical fashion I always bounce back, brush off the bad holes and plough on.
I birdied my very next hole to reach the turn in +2.
A bogey at 10 was soon forgotten when i hit a huge drive on the par 5 13th leaving me with a simple 8 iron to 6 feet and a tap in eagle to smarten the card up.
As the weather continued to pour down and drench myself and my dad who was luckily caddying for me I dropped two shots coming in and signed for a +3 (76) which in those conditions wasn’t a disastrous score.
I knew after that week that I needed to sharpen up my short game if i was to stop dropping careless shots.
I am working hard and looking forward to the next competition
