Magnolia Park and the second time the Jamega Tour had visited the course this year so I am getting very familiar with it
Started the comp a day early this time as my girlfriends dad Graham, son Matt and a friend Dan entered a team into the Pro-Am
The day could not have gone any better with the guys playing great golf, making loads of birdies nett and gross!! to come back into the clubhouse with a team score of 86 points
I was also playing in the individual Pros prize and contributed with 4 birdies of my own, but a double made on the par 3 second hole meant my score finished up 71 two under par not too bad for the day.
We were all happy with our golf and that soon turned to be very happy!! when we learned that the team score had won first place and my individual score was a tie for 2nd place in the pros prize
The guys all went away with some very nice golf bags, whilst I picked up a couple of cheques for Pro team and 2nd individual
Day 1
Still buzzing for the previous days Pro-Am couldn’t wait to get started
Well the first didn’t go to plan as I made bogey on the pretty easy par 5 opening hole
I quickly got this back with birdies on the 4th & 5th another bogey on the 6th followed by another on 9 and I was out in +1 38
Back nine and a birdie straight away which got me back to level par, I followed this up with 6 straight pars before bogey on 17 and a par on 18 and finished the day 74 +1
Day 2
My target today was another round similar to yesterday just some steady golf level to a couple under
And this time off to a great start with birdie at the first, bogey on the 4th and 7 pars and I was out in level par
Similar start on the back nine as made birdie on the 10th to put me under par for the day and level for the tournament
Unfortunately I made bogey on the very next hole and now knew just needed to play steady and my hope for a top ten finish was in sight.
7 straight pars followed, todays score 73 level par and +1 for the tournament and I had finished in 9th place and picked up another pay cheque : )
