No EuroPro event for this week so straight back onto the Jamega Tour
Playing a Hamptworth Golf Club in Wiltshire a course I am very familiar with as I played it many times during my years a County junior
Before the Tournament started I was invited to take part in the Pro-Am before the main event
I met up with my team, three great guys and off we went – as well as the team event there is also a separate prize for the top three pros in the Pro-Am
I played some of my best golf of the year to go onto to shoot a 67 (-5) and take second place – here you can see me being presented with my cheque
Onto the main event and feeling good about my game I got underway on the first.
I started with 3 straight pars before annoying dropping a shot on the 4th – I didn’t let this get me down and I went onto birdie the 6th,7th and the 9th to reach the turn in 33 (-2)
Onto the back nine and I dropped shots on the 11th & 15th to put me back to level par – straight back with birdies on 16 & 17 quickly got me back under par – but when I dropped one more on 18 I finished with a 70 -1 for the day.
Day two and a standard steady nine of 1 birdie, 1 bogey and 7 pars and through 27 I was still at -1 for the tournament
A bogey on the 10th and another on 13 meant I had now slipped to +1 for the tournament, but again for the second successive day I made back to back birdies and was now back to -1
Coming down the 18th just needing a par to keep my name in red figures I was really disappointed to make another bogey to now finish the day at +1, a steady two days of golf left me on level par for 36 holes
Here’s my scorecard
