After a long winter spent working hard to get in shape for the new season; finally it’s nearly upon us.
This year I kicked 2017 off with a trip to Malaga for some warm weather practise and coaching.
I was joined by my coach Richard Scarrott and a team of top class golfers. We travelled out to Malaga on February the 28th to practise hard on our games in a much better climate.
Don’t you just love the sunshine.
During the three days I spent with Rich; and the squad, we worked very hard on improving our short games which involved many drills, skill games and challenges to make it fun, but also rather competitive.
The following days after our arrival were spent practising at Tremores Golf Club and also playing Alferini, which is one of the top courses you can play on the south coast.
After sharpening up the short game I felt ready for the challenge of Alferini and shot rounds of +2 and -2 on an incredibly tricky, long and tight golf course.
After a couple of days, I had to say goodbye to the guys as they were travelling home but fortunately for me a good friend of mine Jerry Halford agreed to let me stay with him and his family in Guadalmina for an extended week.
During this time I practised from dawn till dusk everyday, including rounds at Guadalmina South, Marbella and finishing at Parador.
It was a very successful week as Jerry and me won a couple of matches that we had set up to play and also a fine display from myself at Parador (-3) was the perfect way to end my time in sunny Spain.
I really enjoyed my time out in Marbella especially with the Torreblanca Golf Society who always welcome me back and invite me along to take part in their weekly competitions – even let me win a couple bottles of wine off them 🙂
My attention now turns to Europro qualifying once again with the hope of securing a full tour card this season.
I feel my overall game is currently the best it’s ever been; and I’m very excited about the 2017 season with a determined focus to enjoy every moment I get to tee a ball up.
Thank you for your continued support and well wishes, it is always appreciated.
Matt
