After my recent trips to Scotland it was back up North this week to visit Newcastle and play Close House, attached pro none other than Lee Westwood!
I would like to thank the sponsors of the event Lookers cars for my invite.
I met Heike one of directors of the company whilst playing in the Darren Clarke Pro-Am in Ireland and she told me then that she would like to invite me up to play in the Pro-Am and also the main event, so again thank you very much for this
So for the first time on EuroPro I got to play in the opening Pro-Am – I partnered Heike from Lookers and we had a great day together with the rest of her team. we didnt mange to get into the prizes but it was great company, my personal highlight a nice eagle on the par 5 7th hole
Day 1
Another very long tough course, but I was off to a great start, birdies on the 2nd,7th & 8th with just one bogey on the 3rd and I was out in two under par 33
Onto the back nine and it was just steady golf no birdies but two bogeys and I was round in level par 71, very happy with the score and another level par and the cut would be made.
Day 2
Again bad weather greeted me on day 2, but I knew just keep it steady level par and I would make the cut
I got off to a bad start making bogey on the first, others followed on the 3rd, 5th & 6th and even though I manged a birdie on the 7th the round was getting away from me.
The back nine was much the same story 4 bogeys and one double put the cut out of my reach, a shot back when I made birdie on 16 but I finished with a second round 79 and with my first round of level par meant I had missed the cut
No time to dwell though as I had to travel back to get ready for my next tournament at Magnolia Park on the Jamega Tour
Here’s my scorecard
