On the 29th September I had the pleasure attending a charity golf day on behalf of one of my sponsors Rickety Bridge
It was the Charles Hurst Golf Day to raise money for a BT Sensory Room on behalf of a children’s charity
The golf day was held at Galgorm Castle, Northern Ireland, a fantastic course which also holds the Irish Open on the European Challenge Tour
I arrived the night before and was travelling with my dad who was also invited to play so nice not to be travelling alone for a change.
On the day we met up with our playing partners Mark Marais owner of Chaka Travel and Ian Irving who was the comedian and auctioneer for the night.
If you get to see Ian at one of your evenings / events, make sure you stay on to see him – really funny and great guy to meet
Onto the golf and to keep the theme of the season going we stood on the 1st tee and it starting raining, in fact it was hammering down and didn’t stop at all for all 18 holes!!!
We were playing best two scores from four to count, best individual, as well as other prizes
I scored 38 points after shooting -2 under par and was pretty happy with that in the conditions.
My dad went onto to score 37 points -1 under par playing off his 18 handicap
Ian and Mark both also played great golf in the conditions and as a team we finished on 83 points (-11 under par) out of the prizes but still a really enjoyable days golf.
I also went onto win the longest drive prize of a new Taylormade golf bag, but I donated it to Heike from Lookers car company who we had met on a previous trip to Ireland.
Lookers were also holding a charity golf day the next week, unfortunately I was unable to attend, but the golf bag was going to be used as prize whilst they raised funds for Teenage Cancer Trust so
I was really happy I could help out even in a small way
Here are a couple of pictures from the event
